Update: Sorry guys, I got a new job and lost the ability to run builds. Thanks for everything guys! Good luck with your GM vehicles!
Ok, so this was brought up within the last week. Someone was looking into a car and was wanting to know what option codes were on the car. Well, I decided I’d offer up my services to the Oppo blog. Do you have a car that you’re interested in, or a car that you own, or your neighbor’s car (you creepy neighbors know who you are) that you want to know what options are on the car? If so, please post the VIN in the reply. I will (at my earliest convenience, as I am currently working) post a copy of the build sheet as a reply for you.
The only stipulations: The car must be a GM Vehicle, I must have the whole VIN or at least the last 8 and know what the car is, and finally the vehicle MUST be at least a 2001 to get any info on the build. I can’t promise that all of the 2001’s will have build sheets but I have been able to pull up a few.
So, what are you waiting for, post some VIN’s!!!

Too bad that it's limited to post 2001 GM vehicles, because I've got the VIN for something a bit different. I'm not sure that it would have worked anyway, however.

We've tried using the heated nozzles a couple times, couldn't tell what they were actually supposed to accomplish. You have to have the defroster on for them to work.

Basically just makes it so that your windshield washing fluid doesn't freeze up the nozzles and you can use them during the winter.

This mother F'er right there! Damn YOU!
There actually was some warranty work done, something about transmission module or something. It happened before we were dating. Unless they don't consider recalls warranty work.
My wife leased it then put too many miles on it with a 80 mile commute. We bought it, its paid for now. 153K miles. Not a bad car, but after 9.5 years it has issues.
Thanks though.

Thanks a lot!! As you can tell...it's very very base model.
What does this mean? R7A advertised special vehicle?
Also as a GM person could you shed some light on the parts numbers related to the heater controls? Do 95-02's have different heater controls than the 03-05's? They seem to, even though one dealership told me they did and one told they didnt.
Hopefully this video helps explain what I am talking about.

From what I understand, GM wasn't keeping those records in the database until 01. This doesn't mean they don't have the records but I know for a fact that they haven't put them in THIS system if they do have them.

One question for you (or anyone else). Is there a way to get the code to enable the remote start other than purchasing one for a few hundred bucks? I can purchase the remotes relatively inexpensively on Amazon. It seems the codes are what drives the price up. Is it possible to use a code from a vehicle found in the wrecking/junk yard somehow? Is there a way to purchase the codes less expensively? A lot less expensively? lol. Thanks again.

It looks like you have the prep package, which means it is technically easier and cheaper to install new fobs on it but I'm not sure if your Tahoe is one that can be learned without having to hook up one of the mechanic computers to it. They are so hit or miss.

Thanks Firewrx234, I appreciate it. Since it was a originally configured as a rental vehicle, (some options such as xm and onstar removed) I would be very surprised if it would work without being reprogrammed. I could use a second remote. So perhaps I'll buy one with the remotes start button and see what happens. thanks again. Keep up the good work.
